We´ve arrived in Barranquilla to an absolutely incredible, beautiful welcome by the Presbytery and students here. We walked out of the airport to nearly 20 people cheering and holding a welcome sign for us, then were greeted personally with hugs and kisses by each one. We truly feel honored and blessed to call these people our brothers and sisters.
We had a full day of introductions, meetings, and presentations. Practiced our Spanish, translation, listening, and patience with not understanding...And are committed to helping each other through the rest of our time in various stages of frustration, tiredness, excitement, and learning.
Now, back at the hotel, we´re watching the swimming events of the Olympics as the US national anthem plays with Chinese commentary translated into Spanish.
To share with all of you one of the wonderful messages of the day, from a song called Es por su Amor
Es por tu amor que estamos aqui
reunidos hoy para cantarle
para adorarle en comunion
Dame tu mano, se bienvenido
que puedas encontrar gozo
paz y amistad
It´s because of your love that we are here
reunited today to sing to you
to adore you in community
Give me your hand, be welcomed
that you can find delight
peace and friendship
